Located in the hot, hot, hot urban beach spot of Surfer’s Paradise, Queensland is the QT Gold Coast, a modern hotel brimming with a laid-back, mega-chic vibe.
A mix of retro and contemporary whimsy, this cosmopolitan property was designed by Nic Graham + Associates and features 297 guest rooms with ocean or mountain/river views and caters to guests seeking the finer food, wine, art, entertainment and fashion things in life.
This beachside hotel is sunny from the inside out. Colors of turquoise, yellow, green, red, pink, orange and green (including the plentiful palm trees) burst from virtually every angle–the lobby, lounges, restaurants, bars, spa, pool, even meeting and conference rooms! With names like Bazaar, Fixx, Stingray and The Lawn ( the super-cool lobby lounge with grassy green carpeting) as some of the eateries and entertainment venues, you get the idea that this modern, hip hotel was made for relaxing or partying, and just being your fabulous self.
Spaces are sprawling and vibrant, with a kicked-up energy which is placated by sleek wood walls and flooring, earthy woven accents and smooth lacquer finishes throughout. Oversized reverse-color pendants, lustrous LED lighting and various eye-catching designer lighting create a hypnotic effect across the property by day and night.
Rooms and suites are delightful and fresh, with crisp whites playing well with punchy hues. Furnishings are select and span mid-century modern up to contemporary. I’m loving the knitted pouf footstools dotted across the floors, as well as the kaleidoscope throw pillows–such fun, carefree design. Amenities are plush, including ensuite Japanese soaking tubs, lounge rooms with bar, private glazed-railing balconies and unique designer decor that becomes a bit addictive. (Don’t worry, if you see something in the room that you simply MUST have–like a blue-glass orb candle holder or a yellow rubber duck–it’s available downstairs in the Qtique hotel shop.)
The spa itself is a chill haven with a soothing color scheme of the ocean. Think blues, greens and whites skimming across the interiors here. More designers furnishings exist in this space, but my favorite by far are the egg shell-style chairs in bright yellow with white fur blankets casually draped across the seats. Loving the mesh of mod with luxe! The hanging basket cone pendants and ottomans are exotically intriguing, as well.
The QT Gold Coast is a happening and modern hotel with a beachside elegance that is neither too serious nor too quirky–perhaps just the right stylish balance for today’s jetsetters.
