A family members with a youngster in the hospital faces numerous difficulties, but housing need to not be one particular of them. Developed by architecture company GRAFT, the Ronald McDonald Residence Sankt Augustin in Sankt Augustin, Germany, was designed to supply a sense of community for households in a stunning setting whilst their kids get medical care.
Almost everything about the developing, from the floor plans to the dramatic form and framework, was designed with a “home away from home” concept in mind. It features dynamic curves and is simple and brilliant throughout.
The L-shaped developing has 25 apartments for households. It was built at the prime of a hill, and the back faces west, offering every single unit a view of the sunset and the surrounding regions.
A long table in the spacious common region brings residents together, whilst a stepped ramp against one wall serves many functions, including a play place for children, a quiet functioning space for adults and a stage for performances. [Photography by Tobias Hein]
