This semi-detached house just outside Melbourne, Australia, lately received a contemporary extension to meet the needs of the owners. Despite arranging restraints (which really do not enable 2-degree buildings), the architects at Jost Architects were ready to deliver the clients’ requests.
The Malvern House addition includes a master bedroom with en-suite bath and walk-in closet, second bedroom, office, bathroom, laundry area, kitchen with walk-in pantry, and a spacious open-program residing and dining area. Principal Patrick Jost described it as “business at the front and celebration at the back.”
“One item that was essential was the see to the back backyard,” Jost said. “The program is standard, with rooms available from a central corridor top into the rear dining and residing region, the place the ceiling rakes up to a considerable h7”
Sliding doors accomplish an optimum connection with the wooden deck and internal courtyard. The minimalist layout method is softened by colorful accents and graphic ar2rk. A selection of finishes and textures also draws focus.
