minimalist home in Japan - Suppose Design Office - Freshome Utsunomiya House in Tochigi, Japan, was envisioned by Suppose Design Office. When organizing the residence, the architects played with the notion of a gabled roof that separates the interior and outdoor spaces.

Even so, there is a catch: An ambiguous area between the volume of the property and the roof produces residing spaces that can be deemed either inside or outdoors. Similar to an engawa, or Japanese-fashion veranda, these spaces give options for social interaction.
