This mid century modern in Berkeley Hills has gone by means of an substantial renovation. The residence was originally made by Ratcliff, Slama & Catwalader for Robert Scalapino, a UC Berkeley emeritus professor of Political Science. In 2012 the new owners employed YAMAMAR to carry their vision to light. The interiors are a bit to Jonathan Adler for me (not that there is something wrong with that) but the property has some stunning characteristics. The cast concrete fireplace is an remarkable sculptural type that demands focus and will ignite a conversation. I would like to see far more of the exterior and architecture of the residence.
