“The couple bought the website with the intention of creating anything extraordinary,” the architects explained. “Living in the home for 2 many years gave them a far better understanding of the variety of spaces they wished to inhabit — spaces with an emphasis on raw materials, normal light and a sense of openness.”
The contemporary addition consists of 2 rectangular concrete volumes stacked behind the authentic home. The upper level cantilevers over the bottom floor, making a partially covered outdoor location. The primary floor characteristics open-plan residing locations.
“Referencing the external facade, the kitchen is monolithic in form with a lot of storage,” the architects explained. “Floor-to-ceiling glass doors frame the back backyard, blurring the threshold amongst inside and out.”
The easy color palette in gray, white and black is in tune with the minimalist furniture and decor. This approach sets the tone for a vivid and spacious residence.
