Every single year, MoMA PS1’;s Young Architects Plan brings a bit of architectural whimsy—design-y water pipes, brick towers, a “party wall”—to the museum’;s Long Island City courtyard as portion of its summer time ar2rk installation (which coincides with the ever-well-known Warm Up! events). And from a crop of 5 finalists comes this year’;s winner, Escobedo Solíz Studio’;s Weaving the Courtyard. As the identify suggests, the task will involve weaving: The set up will be made up of a series of a “textured canopy suspended above the courtyard, or a ‘cloud’; produced of contrasting yet colorful ropes.” The renderings show a brightly-colored awning, which will give shade to the assembled crowds there’;ll also be a wading pool in the courtyard, a boon on individuals sizzling summer season days. A launch date hasn’;t been announced nevertheless, but expect to see the cloud in early summertime.
