Multi-purpose cubes have been popping up in disparate design projects for some time now. It was only a matter of time before they were produced as standalone pieces, with the potential to turn nearly any empty, amenity-free studio into a proper living space. Enter designer Luca Nichetto, developer Urban Capital, and the “Cubitat” they just unveiled at Toronto’;s Interior Design Show.

Described as a “10′ x 10′ x 10′ customizable object that responds to small space habitation,” the Cubitat incorporates “a kitchen, bathroom, bedroom, entertaining area, storage, and furniture.” Laundry, too. All you have to do is hook up plumbing and electric, and you’;ve got what the developers call a “plug and play living space.”

The prefab cube is still just a prototype, but the idea is to let buyers customize them online. Hopefully this includes color options. More photos this way.
